New 2011 model Suzuki MR Wagon minivan is more fuel-efficient 25.5 km/L

The new MR Wagon Kei is rolling out after its first full remodeling in five years, Suzuki gave it a new engine and continuously variable transmission.

The new MR Wagon is more fuel-efficient, with 25.5 km per liter, up 16% from the previous model, and comes with a iphone inspired touch-panel audio system aimed at attracting customers in their 20s.

The annual sales target for the remodeled version, which is priced between ¥1.13 million ($13,640) and ¥1.51 million ($18,100) and qualifies for the Japanese government's green car tax incentive, is set at 36,000 units.

Looking similar to the previous Suzuki MR Wagon, with its curvy box design, the new car uses a brand-new 660cc engine which is available in both turbocharged and naturally aspirated version. In non-turbo version it outputs 40kW of power and the turbocharger it gets 48kW.

This is not a performance car in any way, and was created to compete in one of Japan’s biggest car markets; the city car segment (which makes up 40 percent). Fuel economy is a much higher priority than performance, as well as a small quirky design.

Available in both 2WD and 4WD version.
